Although I pitched exclusively in college, in my early years I was brought up as a position player and have been exposed to a broad knowledge of the game through working baseball camps at Champions Park and summer camps at Lamar University.

Upon receiving my Bachelor's Degree at Lamar (2012) I was hired by the Houston Texans and continue to spend time during the football season working with them in public relations and fan appreciation events.

Getting Ready for the Next Level

Hello, my name is John Gilligan, and I am the managing director of HEADS UP SPORTS, Inc., a non-profit community development corporation located in Dickinson, TX.  Our goal at HEADS UP SPORTS is to take players of all ages and prepare them for the next level of play.

We hope to accomplish this by:

1.  Providing a quality, fun filled training experience from instructors who have either played or coached on the collegiate or professional level.

2.  Making this available at a very cost effective means for each player.

3.  Developing an excellent community program that inspires and enhances a young person's life experience.

I played two years at Alvin Community College under Coach Bryan Alexander and Pitching Coach Jason Schreiber, where I was used primarily as a reliever and compiled a 4-2 record with a 3.40 E.R.A.  I completed by collegiate career at Lamar University where I pitched for Coach Jim Gilligan.  While at Lamar I lead the Cardinal pitching staff in 3 categories over my two year stay.  Appearances (37)  E.R.A. (2.40) and opponents' batting avg. (.228)
